I-STORM Annual Meeting 2022

I-STORM is the international knowledge sharing network for people working in the storm surge barrier industry. This year they hosted their annual meeting in Rotterdam, Netherlands from the 07-10 June.

I was given the opportunity to present my PhD research in one of the keynote speaker sessions. Giving my first presentation to an audience of over 100 professionals was daunting but the reception I received was fantastic. I have really been encouraged by hearing the impact and application my research has for different barrier teams.

I find communicating my work is really important. I am conscious of adapting my delivery to ensure people from different scientific backgrounds and non-native English speakers can understand the message and see it’s relevance for them.
