Southampton Science and Engineering Festival

As part of the Southampton Science and Engineering Festival, I designed and delivered a series of short-form videos exploring how methods for measuring ocean temperature have evolved over time, from early ship-based observations to modern autonomous observing systems. Alongside these videos, I developed and led hands-on activities that allowed visitors to experience aspects of oceanographic fieldwork, providing an interactive introduction to how scientists collect and use ocean data to understand our changing climate.

National Oceanography Centre Open Day

I have contributed to the National Oceanography Centre Open Day for two consecutive years, delivering the talk Ships and Me, which explored the role of research vessels in ocean science and my experiences working at sea. I also supported the Life at Sea exhibit, engaging visitors in discussions about oceanographic research, fieldwork, and daily life aboard research ships. Throughout the event, I shared behind-the-scenes content on Instagram, providing a glimpse into the activities, exhibits, and public engagement efforts taking place during the day.

STEM for BRITAIN Poster Competition

As a finalist in this competition, I was invited to present my research at the Houses of Parliament. Ahead of the event, I contacted my three local MPs to invite them to learn more about my work. I was pleased to welcome Caroline Nokes and Satvir Kaur, who attended to discuss my research and its wider significance.

Talks

I was invited to deliver the annual John Sargant Lecture at the Institution of Civil Engineers, presenting my work to a professional audience spanning academia, industry, and policymakers.

I have delivered multiple presentations in the Netherlands to colleagues at Rijkswaterstaat, part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
